As a guide a Saltram I can say that is the happiest county house that I have been in, it has a very lived in and domestic feel, certainly somewhere one could live unlike some NT houses! This probably has something to do with the fact that its contents belong there having been collected by the family over the last 270 years or so. Your pictures accurately demonstrate the light levels lived in by the inhabitants pre electricity which wasn’t until well into the 20th century.
